Codename: Panzers

Post by Gustavus2 » Sat Jul 10, 2004 0:27

I am waiting this game for about several months since I heard about it. Am dead
crazy for tanks. :D Just read that it has been released at Germany. (UK, French and
USA till Sept. More later for rest of world)

Anyone got it already? And would you kindly tell me what you feel and what you
think about it? :)

Codename: Panzers Web site,
http://www.panzers.de/

It's WW2 RTS with kinda awesome 3D screen even better than some old SIM games I
have such as Panzer Elite.

I heard that players can use fire to burn the tanks and they will get hotter and
hotter until crews can't stand for and get out from the tanks. (Shoot them!) LOL

Panzer Elite Screenshoot (It's SIM game and a bit old, but is still fun with some
nice MODs installed)

Thanks.

I am not sure for MP part.
But it seems support up to 2 teams total of 8 players play at same time.
4v4 I guess.

Players could play on-line including such modes as Deathmatch, Kill the Leader,
Hold the Line and plus some others.

Need to check the real game to make sure about its MP part. It released Germany
edition already so far, but since I can't read Germany so didn't buy it yet.

About the SP part.

Quotes from their FAQ,
"Codename: PANZERS combines tactical combat with RTS (real time strategy) and
RPG (role-playing game) elements."

"Will Codename: PANZERS have a linear or dynamic campaign?
The campaigns in Codename: PANZERS are mostly linear, but some missions include
two maps, and you can travel between them freely, which adds a great deal to the
strategical element of the game. And donÂ’t worry: you will also find a tremendous
amount of secret stuff in Codename: PANZERS that will keep you motivated."

I read there are three campaigns including over 30 diverse missions in the role
of the Germans, Soviets, and Anglo-American allies. Each campaign has its heroes
and follow their story throughout the missions.

Lead the Germany invade through Poland to Soviet Russia.(East Front 12 missions)
Lead the Soviet Russia to against Germany from defending Moscow till enter Berlin.
(8 missions)
3rd campaign, from Normandy till enter Nazi Germany? (Not sure, this part has
10 missions)

It will include battle of Stalingrad, battle of Kursk and the D day of course etc.

I think if they make good SP with MP parts then this game would be great. :)

I love tanks too (or any thing cavalry, really :))

If there is a go-ahead, and there is a MP 4x4, I'll play it :)
